In "No More Dead Dogs" by Gordon Korman, Wallace Wallace refuses to tell a lie. Wallace Wallace, who is a football jock, is in junior high and in eighth grade. For his first 13 years of life he has never told a lie. Now in eighth grade he is challenged to lie but refuses.
Wallace Wallace reads Old Shep and hates it. He dislikes the fact that in every book about a dog the dog dies in the end. So when it comes time for Wallace to write a book review, he tells the teacher what he truly thinks of the book. Since his teacher is unhappy with the review, Wallace is banned from football practice and is put on detention in the theater room until he writes a good review. Which in his case would be lying. Once he figures he isn’t going to lie he decides to get comfortable in the play rehearsals of Old Shep. After making a few changes in the play, someone decides to pull a few pranks on the set. Obviously everyone knows that Wallace hates Old Shep so the pranks get blamed on him.
