chapter 5

1.Radiocarbon dating is when scientist find somthing old and find how old it is. they do this by measuring the carbonaceous materials. this is very helpfull. However there are somthings that are wrong with this process. One thing is that they dont always do it with the item that they want to no how old it is. They will use somthing closer to it and say it is the same old. another problem is the tecnolagy has changed. So like twenty years ago the mathmatical steps could have been wrong.

CHAPTER 3

They said they were Catholics. But I didn’t’ believe them. Why would they kill us just to kill us? They were Spaniards and we were Indians. We had been living here for many years. Why? Why would they want to kill us? Those were the thoughts that went through our heads the night before the battle. The whole night we look down at their camps, in the valley while we prepared our spears and bows for the battle we didn’t want to fight.

Finally the time came we, about 80,000 of us, went to fight the 400 of them. When our fighters saw them riding their very large dogs we didn’t know what to shoot. There was also a weird sound it sounded like jingles coming from the dogs’ legs. When they came closer there was loud BANGING and BOOMING sounds. It put us all in shock. My fellow Indians began to get hit with very small particles that were coming from the objects that made the bang sounds. The particles came so fast that they were invisible to our eye sight. Many of our people were getting killed. They began to form massive piles.

What was left of our group tried to retreat; the Spaniards followed and killed more and more of us. My friend and I hid in a trench while they continued to kill. Somehow we managed to stay hidden.

After what seemed like forever they left. So we went to see if any one else survived. But all that was on the battle field was bodies piled on top of each other.

chapter 2

What role did ‘geography’ play in the story of the Maori and the Moriori?

The Maori lived a few thousand miles south of the Moriori so this was why it took the Moriori such a long time to find out that they existed. Also it was from island to island. They had to develop good water craft to get from island to island. What are the chances that they would run into another island.

chapter 1

The Neandertherthals were dominating in Europe. Then they disappeared when the Cromagnons men arrived and the Neandertherthals disappeared. What do you think happened to them?

What I think happened is that the Cromagnons brought weird diseases that where very harmful to the Neandertherthals but not harmful to themselves. I think they were nice to each other when they first came. Soon the Neandertherthals found out what was happening so they decided to fight. Many were killed. In fact there were no Neandertherthals left. The Cromagnons had more advanced weapons so this helped them win.
